Vitex First Editions® Delta Blues™ is a refined, compact cultivar of the traditional Chaste Tree, specifically selected for its intermediate size and remarkably deep flower color. Forming a neat, rounded-to-upright multi-stemmed deciduous shrub, Delta Blues features attractive, palmately compound dark green leaves that release a pleasant, sage-like aroma when crushed. From early summer through early autumn, the plant produces abundant six to eight-inch upright flower spikes filled with rich, dark blue-purple blossoms. Unlike the lighter, paler lavender shades of the straight species, Delta Blues delivers a far more intense, saturated violet-blue floral display while holding a much tidier growth habit.
In residential and commercial landscape design, Delta Blues™ matures to an easily managed height and spread of eight to ten feet, solving the space issues often posed by full-sized twenty-foot Vitex varieties. Its compact stature makes it an ideal fit as a dramatic focal point in small gardens, a informal privacy hedge, an accent along property borders, or a patio container plant. The fragrant blue-purple flower spikes act as an incredible magnet for pollinators, drawing in honeybees, native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds continuously throughout the hottest months of summer.

Light Requirements: Full Sun (Requires 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily for dark purple flowering and compact structure).
Water Requirements: Low to Moderate; keep moist while establishing, then requires very little supplemental water.
