Cherry Dazzle® Crape Myrtle, developed by renowned horticulturist Dr. Michael Dirr as part of the Dazzle® series, is a breakthrough dwarf deciduous shrub celebrated for its tight, compact growth and vibrant floral display. Unlike traditional tree-form crape myrtles, Cherry Dazzle forms a naturally neat, rounded mound that eliminates the need for severe pruning. Its small, glossy leaves emerge in spring with a distinct reddish-bronze tint before maturing to dark green. In mid-summer, the shrub transforms as it becomes covered in large, crinkled clusters of brilliant cherry-red, crepe-paper-like blossoms that bloom continuously through early autumn. As cooler weather sets in, the foliage turns a striking orange-red before dropping for the winter.
Reaching a mature height and spread of just three to five feet, Cherry Dazzle® is perfectly sized for modern residential landscapes where space is limited. Its compact stature makes it an ideal choice for low accent hedges, foundation plantings, mixed perennial borders, or large patio containers. The showy red blooms serve as a summer focal point while attracting butterflies, honeybees, and other beneficial pollinators.

Light Requirements: Full Sun (Requires 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily for heavy blooming, compact growth, and disease prevention).
Water Requirements: Low to Moderate; keep moist until established, then highly drought-tolerant
Drought Resistance: High once fully established.
Soil Type: Adaptable to most soils (clay, loam, sand); prefers well-drained soil; pH 5.0–6.5 (slightly acidic); highly susceptible to root rot in soggy, waterlogged sites.
Deer Resistance: High (Deer generally avoid crape myrtles).
