When the Mexican plum and redbud trees stop their show of colors flowering, the Anacacho Orchid tree will be showing its beautiful flowers. A great Texas native small under-story tree; needs to be protect from winter winds; prefers well-drained soil; fragrant pollination flowers attracting butterflies and bees.
Grows in shallow rocky limestone with well-drained soils . Winter hardy in Austin areas, but farther north it needs to be planted in a protected, south-facing location and may still lose some limbs in severe winters. Trimming back will allow for new growth to flourish.
