The Butterfly Weed
The Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) is one of our most beautiful Texas native milkweeds. Milkweeds are essential for the Monarch butterfly, as it is the only plant they will feed on as caterpillars. Land clearing has destroyed much of the naturally growing milkweed, leading to a decline in Monarchs. Planting these graceful flowers around your property not only adds beauty, but also helps the local ecosystem.
