Foliage: Deciduous

Leaves: Deep green and tapering. Long, lanceolate leaves with finely serrated edges and a slightly wavy texture.

Flowers: Large, showy pink blossoms. These bloom in mid-spring, helping the tree avoid the earliest frosts.

Fruit: Medium-sized and oval. Brilliant cherry-red skin over a yellow background. The flesh is yellow and firm.

PRUNING

1. The "Open Bowl" for Airflow: Because Independence is a mid-season producer, it is often ripening during the most humid weeks of summer.
