Garden Sage

Description: Sage (Salvia offcinalis) is a woody, aromatic herb with oval, pointed, slightly fuzzy, grayish-green leaves and camphor-scented flowers. Flowers are two-lipped blossoms that are usually purple or lavender, but can also be, blue, pink or white. Stems are square and green at first, but become woody in the second year.  It's a member of the mint family and is native to the Mediterranean. Sage is used in cooking and medicine.  

Growing conditions: Garden sage can grow to 2.5 feet tall, but many cultivars are much shorter, It prefers full sun and well-drained soil; it spreads and has a tendency to sprawl.
