Description: Alaska Nasturtiums (Tropaeolum majus) are a dwarf, annual plant with variegated leaves and flowers in a variety of bright colors (gold, orange, red, and yellow). They are easy to grow, attract pollinators, and are edible. Used for edging, containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, ground cover, and weed suppressors.

Growing Conditions: Alaska Nasturtiums like well-drained, moist, organic soil. Light full sun, with afternoon shade in hot summers. Regular watering, especially in dry weather. Likes cool temperatures for optimal blooming.

Maintenance: Sow seeds 1/2” deep after danger of frost has passed. Thin plants to 8” apart when plants are 3” tall. Provide a trellis or other support for climbing species

Harvesting: Young leaves make excellent fresh greens. Blossoms are often used as a garnish. Seeds can be pickled to make “capers”
